Operations Manager

Are you an experienced Operations Manager with a strong background in the construction industry? Our client is looking for a dynamic leader to oversee the day-to-day operations. This is a newly created role with an exciting opportunity to shape and influence its scope while driving operational excellence.

About the Role

As the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless project delivery, optimising workflows, and driving financial performance. You will work closely with key internal stakeholders, including the General Manager, Quantity Surveyor, and Supervisors, to align operational activities with business objectives. Leading a team of direct reports, you will foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and high performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily operations to ensure efficiency and productivity across all divisions.

  • Lead project delivery, ensuring jobs are completed on time and within budget.

  • Monitor and manage project costs, ensuring accurate invoicing and financial tracking.

  • Implement and enhance operational systems and processes.

  • Lead and mentor a team, setting clear objectives and tracking performance.

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and promote a strong safety culture.

  • Manage resource allocation, fleet and asset management, and IT requirements.

  • Drive stakeholder engagement, maintaining strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

What We’re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in an Operations Management role within the construction industry.

  • A trade qualification or relevant business management qualification is desirable.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a high-performing team.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Simpro and Groundplan is an advantage.

  • Sound knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation.

  • Ability to oversee multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
