Job Description

In this key position you will provide leadership to enable a well-organized, smooth running and efficient home health care service. Your primary focus is to manage business operations such as processing of automated payroll, collections of private and government contract billing, processing of expenses and supervision of accounting coordinators, recruiters and reception to ensure optimal client care. Paramed helps people stay in their homes for as long as possible while retaining their health, independence and dignity. Your work on our Kitchener operations team will directly result in a better quality of life for thousands of people, many of whom may be related to your neighbours, friends and family. Your work will help Paramed to:
  • Optimize,
  • Standardize and,
  • Organize business operations.
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable for Paramed's largest Canadian office with approximately 700 staff
  • Ensure operational efficiency, and employee and client satisfaction
  • Collaborate and work closely with care and service teams to ensure high quality client care
  • Ensure consistent and accurate records management
  • Effectively conveys corporate policy changes to staff
  • Lead and participate in departmental meetings providing clear communication
  • Conduct quality reviews on pending reports and timeslips
  • Show respect for cultural needs, dignity, privacy and confidentiality of staff, patients and clients
  • Ensure compliance to ParaMed policies, procedures and legal requirements for themselves and all staff
  • Additional duties as needed


  • Responsible to ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll for health care workers and office staff
  • Coordinate closely with corporate payroll in Markham, ON
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll prior to processing
  • Handle payroll corrections, errors and omissions
  • Prepare bi-weekly report for Director sign off
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legislative and bargaining unit standards regarding payroll


  • Ensure timely collection of rejected and suspended billings
  • Prepare weekly report for Director sign off
  • Ensure completeness of weekly billing for Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) plus private and other billings
  • Responsible for collecting aging accounts receivable


  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry of accounts payable
  • Ensure appropriate sign-off of payables


  • Ensure timely processing of applicants
  • Ensure onboarding and offboarding process
  • Interact with operations to understand recruiting needs
  • Implement recruitment strategies to maximize applicants
  • Prepares weekly report on recruiting metrics for Director of Operations


  • Solid accounting experience in payroll, accounts receivable and collections. (preferably with an accounting degree or equivalent)
  • At least two (2) years of leadership or management experience
  • General operations experience (health-care background is not necessary)
  • Post-Secondary degree or equivalent work experience
  • Personal vehicle is required for site visits and district travel (paid mileage)
HOURS - Monday to Friday with additional on-call responsibilities
LOCATION - Kitchener - 133 Manitou Drive, Kitchener, ON N2C 1L4
SALARY - $75,000 to $85,000 plus benefits
