The following is the role that we discussed that we’re looking to fill in Pawtucket, RI.

This position is Construction Management and Oversight on behalf of the Owner’s team, not for the performing contractor team. Essentially, the Construction Manager overseeing the Resident Engineers and Inspectors. This is a heavy civil tunnel and utility project. The candidate would need to be fairly senior and able to manage a team. The individual could be a current/former contractor PM/CM or could have a background working for a design firm but would need to have CM experience vs. just strict design experience.

The individual would officially work for our parent company, MWH Constructors, which is part of the owner’s rep team, in partnership with Stantec and Pare Corp. The contractor is a joint venture of Barletta and CBNA, a tunnel company from Europe.

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for the daily management and operations of the CM Team for construction. The Construction Project Manager reports to the Program Construction Manager. The Construction Project Manager will be located primarily at the construction management field office. The Construction Project Manager will be available during standard daytime work hours and additional hours, as necessary. General responsibilities of the Construction Project Manager include:

  1. Daily leadership and management of the CM Team.
  2. Prepare project-related correspondence to Narragansett Bay Commission (NBC) and stakeholders parties and responses to correspondence from NBC and stakeholders.
  3. Manage daily staffing of CM Team including second and third shifts.
  4. Attend weekly coordination meeting with key members of CM Team.
  5. Establish risk registers for each project and update at least monthly in coordination with the Resident Engineers.
  6. Monitor project construction costs and prepare project cost reports for the Program Construction Manager.
  7. Monitor project construction schedules.
  8. Monitor construction management operational budget and expenditures.
  9. Assist with preparing monthly project progress reports.
  10. Ensure that members of the CM Team are equipped with the proper personal protective equipment.
  11. Review reports of safety audits performed on design-builder’s/contractor’s activities.
  12. Utilize and update the Program Management Information System (PMIS).
  13. Provide support for resolution and processing of design-builder/contractor CORs.
  14. Provide technical support to Resident Engineers as requested.
  15. Provide support for resolution of claims.
  16. Arrange other support to the resident construction oversight staff, NBC and PM/CM as required (estimating, procurement, etc).
  17. Participate in partnering sessions.
  18. Attend meetings of Dispute Resolution Board.
  19. Attend program-level meetings with NBC.
  20. Attend project-level progress meetings as required.
  21. Attend public and community meetings as required.
  22. Periodic review and update of Construction Management Manual.
