DESCRIPTION

Commercial underwriting professional needed to help grow the Southeastern territory of a national wholesale/MGA. Primary responsibilities include underwriting profitable new business and visiting agents as needed to develop and foster business relationships.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Quote new business in compliance with carrier guidelines in their respective rate/bind systems
  • Refer accounts to insurance company that are outside of binding authority
  • Review agent applications and advise of decision to quote or decline accounts
  • Maintain profitable book of business with efficiency and accuracy
  • Comply with departmental service standards and company binding agreements
  • Monitor, manage and report on new business production to meet goals
  • Coordinate with other business segments to add additional coverage lines to accounts
  • Assure that pricing and coverage form requirements are being adhered to
  • Maintain and build relationships with agency partners and travel as needed, up to 25%
  • Recommend and assist with development of new insurance programs
  • Work as part of a team to help reach departmental and company goals
  • This position can work remotely or in a hybrid capacity

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • 3+ years of commercial insurance program underwriting experience with an MGA
  • Knowledge of insurance company quoting systems
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Independent work ethic
  • Time management and decision making skills
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in team environment
