Network Operations Engineer

This organization is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join their Network Operations Center (NOC) team. This individual will play a key role in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining wireless network systems, including Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) and next-generation 5G infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in RF systems and DAS components, with a proactive approach to ensuring network reliability and efficiency.

Focus:

  • Continuously monitor network performance, identifying and resolving issues related to DAS and 5G infrastructure.
  • Respond to system alerts and alarms, conducting Level 1 and Level 2 troubleshooting to maintain network stability.
  • Perform trend analysis on network performance metrics to proactively detect potential issues.
  • Create, manage, and resolve trouble tickets, ensuring thorough documentation and timely resolutions.
  • Provide remote support to field technicians, assisting with troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure swift restoration of network services.
  • Support scheduled maintenance activities, including software updates, system patches, and equipment testing.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records for DAS and 5G equipment, ensuring system configurations are up to date.
  • Assist in the management of firewalls and demarcation points to enhance system monitoring and security.
  • Mentor and train regional technicians on best practices for incident resolution and effective use of ticketing tools.
  • Assist in asset management, tracking spare parts, and processing Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMA) for faulty equipment.

Skill Set:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in network monitoring, troubleshooting, and RF system analysis.
  • Strong understanding of DAS, 5G networks, and wireless infrastructure.
  • Hands-on experience with RF testing equipment and network performance monitoring tools.
  • Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Office, Visio, and iBwave.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to mentor junior team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete projects efficiently.
  • Ability to travel as needed (~15%).
  • Industry certifications such as A+, Security+, Network+, Server+, or equivalent credentials.
  • Formal training or certifications from DAS Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Familiarity with WLAN systems and fiber/passive DAS.
