Live-out Nanny Job Description

Marcilly Recruitment’s client, a warm, creative family in the entertainment industry, is seeking a fun, outgoing and adaptable live-out Nanny to care for their two young children — a 7-month-old baby boy and a 3.5-year-old girl. This is a long-term position, ideally suited to a live-out Nanny who genuinely enjoys child development and feels confident working both independently and alongside busy, involved and caring parents. The successful nanny will need to be able to travel with the family, sometimes short trips whilst they are filming or on tour in Europe and then also extended periods for filming further afield or holidays.

Role: Live-Out Nanny

Salary: depending on the candidate’s experience but max £70K p/a

Location: Islington, London

Hours: 12:30pm – 7:30pm Monday to Friday

Start Date: ideally ASAP for August travel, but they are also happy to wait a notice period for the right candidate

Contract: Permanent, either self-employed or through PAYE, they are open to discussion

The family places a strong emphasis on education, creativity and outdoor play, and this live-out Nanny role would suit someone equally comfortable providing hands-on care as they are planning stimulating, screen-free activities. The eldest child attends nursery Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and a housekeeper is present daily in the mornings, so this live-out Nanny will work closely alongside existing household support. They are more of a relaxed, informal household but lead very busy lives having to travel regularly for work, so it will also involve proxy parenting and staying over if both parents are away. They need someone highly adaptable, easy going and flexible, to suit the demands of people in the entertainment industry. They are a lovely family who do look after their staff and want a personable relationship as they see this person as an integral part of the family. It needs to be someone highly responsible who can be the adult in the room and use their initiative, whilst still be fun, playful and creative with the children. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a nursery setting. The family maintains a screen-free household and are looking for a candidate who is passionate about encouraging learning and development through play, creativity and hands-on activities rather than screen-based entertainment.

It is a multilingual home, so they would really like it if the successful live-out nanny can speak French or Spanish.

Live-out Nanny Responsibilities

• Collect the eldest child from nursery
• Organise fun, creative and educational activities for both children
• Support learning and development through age-appropriate play
• Prepare healthy meals and snacks
• Maintain the children's bedrooms, play areas and wardrobes
• Manage the children's laundry and belongings
• Accompany the children to activities including swimming, ballet and Spanish classes
• Travel with the family when required, both within the UK and internationally
• Confidently care for both children independently when needed

Live-out Nanny Requirements

• Warm, energetic and nurturing in approach
• Confident setting consistent, age-appropriate boundaries
• The ability to educate the children through engaging and stimulating activities
• Somebody who is comfortable in preparing child/age appropriate meals
• Creative, with the ability to plan engaging activities
• Proactive and able to use their own initiative
• Organised, reliable and used to working in a busy household
• Flexible in terms of adapting to parent’s schedules
• Comfortable travelling and staying away from home, including overnight trips and weeks away
• Somebody who speaks Spanish – but this is desirable not essential

Essential Live-out Nanny Requirements

• Childcare qualification preferred
• Previous experience with babies and preschool-aged children
• Previous nursery or early years experience ideal
• Valid passport and eligibility to travel internationally with ease
• Flexibility for occasional evenings, weekends and overnight travel
