Nanny Job Description
Marcilly Recruitment’s client, an UHNW family based in Dubai, is seeking an energetic, fun, resilient and patient Nanny to support their nine-year-old boy. This is a live-out role Monday to Friday with a beautiful, fully furnished one bedroom apartment provided plus a car.
The successful nanny must have experience working with older children, ideally working as a nanny in an UHNW household. However, the client is open to ex-teachers if they are a good fit for the family.
The successful candidate does not need prior experience working in the UAE. They are happy relocating a candidate. Fluent English is essential and a strong educational background because assistance with homework is a necessity and the boy will be coming up to the 11+ soon.
They are a big family with extremely busy lives. The successful nanny must be a good team player who can work well in a fully staffed household. They must also thrive working in a fast-paced environment with ever-changing plans and schedules. It can be a tough role because of behavioural issues, so they need someone who can communicate effectively with the boy and build a trusted relationship, so he sees the nanny as a friend and confidant.
- Salary: AED 20K-25K per month
- Benefits: fully furnished one bed apartment + bills etc, car, discretionary bonus + one return flight to home country a year + 30 days annual leave + BUPA Gold executive healthcare
- Start date:ideally ASAP, but happy to wait a notice period for the right candidate
- Location: Dubai, UAE
- Hours: Monday to Friday 06:50 – 9am for school drop off & then again from between 1pm-4pm depending on after school activities until 8:30pm.
The nanny is off after school drop off in the morning from around 08:30/9am. They will then not be needed for work again until school pick up – earliest 1pm, but usually between 2-4pm depending on the day of the week and what after school activities B9 has. They will then work until 8:30pm at night to assist with homework, after school play, dinner time, and getting ready for bed.
The successful nanny will work a five day week Monday to Friday, but will be required for one half day over the weekend every other week, usually Saturday’s, but as agreed with the family.
Nanny Responsibilities
- Full care for the boy outside of school hours. Keeping a watchful eye and entertaining him with fun activities etc.
- Help the child with all homework and in the future assist with 11+.
- Coordinating daily activities and supervising transportation to and from school, all engagements, playdates, appointments, classes, extracurricular activities etc.
- The nanny must be prepared to plan fun and engaging activities to entertain the child, including lots of time outdoors.
- Organising and planning clubs for holidays, forward planning for future holidays.
- Organise birthday parties and liaise with team on any upcoming events.
- Organise gifts for upcoming children’s parties.
- Shopping for the child and organise gifts, books, hampers etc for holidays or events.
- Check all children’s supplies and replace when required.
- Manage communications with the school and organise anything needed.
- Wardrobe management.
- Check household email daily and respond where required. Flag anything important to the team where relevant.
- Managing any medical appointments, working closely with the PA and mother.
- Bed and bath time.
- Calendar management and organising any activities, play dates etc.
- Liaise with chef on menus – no allergies.
- Assisting with school pick up and drop off.
- Travel will be required with the role and all packing will be the nanny’s responsibility. Shopping for each trip, planning outfits for each day etc.
- The nanny should be prepared to organise educational activities for school holidays.
- Reading with the little boy, sourcing new books etc.
- Emotional and psychological learning.
- Work closely with the mother who likes to constantly be kept in the loop.
- Ensure the safety of the child at all times.
The family have four children and each child has their own nanny. The house is fully staffed with housekeepers so there is no need for the successful nanny to clean the playrooms, organise the child’s laundry or cook for the children (chef on site). It may be necessary to direct the housekeepers with the playroom and organise the occasional sort out of toys.
The successful nanny will be required to travel with the family in school holidays. They have multiple properties here in the UK, so a number of weeks are spent in London and the countryside a year, especially in the summer. When travelling this will be a 24/6 role. Separate accommodation provided.
