Job Description
  • Role overview: Finance Technology Lead for a large specialty insurance/reinsurance client, serving as the tactical second-in-command for Finance technology across hands-on Microsoft leadership, Finance application ownership, and ERP modernization.
  • Microsoft technical leadership: Strong C#/.NET, Azure, SQL Server, and Azure DevOps, with enough hands-on skill to review and challenge pull requests, enforce development standards, troubleshoot issues, and mentor developers.
  • Delivery ownership: Manages work allocation, estimates, and delivery, with accountability for application stability, development quality, and execution.
  • Team leadership: Oversees roughly 3–4 .NET developers and 2–3 SAP technical resources (Basis, Security, and ABAP SMEs).
  • Finance/accounting knowledge: Understands financial applications and processes, including GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, reporting, and month-end close.
  • Executive communication: Comfortable engaging Controller and CFO-level stakeholders directly, translating technical issues into business risks, recommendations, and decisions.
  • ERP experience: Understands ERP environments, integrations, and technical dependencies. SAP S/4HANA modernization is upcoming, but experience owning Oracle, JD Edwards, Workday, or Dynamics is acceptable, and hands-on SAP development is not required.
  • Finance modernization: Experience with ERP implementations, migrations, integrations, or finance transformations, including coordinating internal teams and potentially an external systems integrator.
  • Governance (valuable): Experience with application security, GRC, change approvals, audit requirements, and production risk management.
  • Ideal profile and engagement: Progressed from C#/.NET Developer to Technical Lead to Finance/Enterprise Applications Manager. Not a pure SAP consultant, hands-off architect, or project manager. The role is remote, contract-to-hire (about 6–12 months) with a long-term leadership path, and requires working Eastern hours because the client is based in Stamford, CT.
