Our client is seeking a highly analytical Multifamily Underwriter to support the analysis, structuring, and execution of multifamily credit investments across bridge, acquisition, refinance, and value-add transactions.

Position Overview
The Multifamily Underwriter plays a critical role within the company’s lending platform, responsible for evaluating loan opportunities, assessing credit risk, and supporting thoughtful portfolio growth. This individual will lead detailed financial modeling and credit memo preparation while partnering closely with originations, asset management, legal, and closing teams to ensure transactions are well-structured and executed efficiently.
The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of multifamily underwriting experience, strong modeling expertise, and a deep understanding of loan structures and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Credit Analysis
- Analyze and underwrite multifamily loan opportunities, including bridge, acquisition, refinance, and value-add transactions
- Perform comprehensive financial analysis of borrower financials, rent rolls, operating statements, and cash flow projections
- Build and maintain detailed underwriting models to evaluate returns, risk exposure, and downside scenarios
- Prepare thorough credit memorandums outlining transaction strengths, risks, mitigants, and recommendations
- Evaluate asset fundamentals, market dynamics, sponsor strength, and exit strategies
Due Diligence & Risk Assessment
- Conduct in-depth due diligence, including property valuation analysis, market research, review of third-party reports, and sensitivity testing
- Identify and assess key risks related to asset performance, market conditions, sponsor capability, and capital structure
- Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements, and investor guidelines
Deal Structuring & Execution Support
- Partner with originators to structure loan terms, including sizing, pricing, reserves, covenants, and exit assumptions
- Provide analytical feedback to optimize risk-adjusted returns
- Support negotiations through data-driven insights and credit recommendations
- Assist in closing by reviewing final documentation and confirming adherence to approved credit terms
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with originations, asset management, legal, and operations teams to drive efficient transaction execution
- Respond to underwriting inquiries during closing
- Assist with post-closing loan surveillance and ongoing portfolio monitoring
Reporting & Portfolio Analytics
- Prepare underwriting reports, pipeline summaries, and portfolio analytics for management and investment committees
- Support ongoing asset performance tracking, covenant compliance monitoring, and risk evaluation
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all underwriting activities comply with internal credit policies, fair lending laws, and anti-money laundering regulations
- Maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready credit files
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in real estate finance with a focus on multifamily credit underwriting
- Strong experience underwriting bridge loans, transitional assets, and value-add transactions preferred
- Solid understanding of multifamily valuation methodologies, loan structuring, and credit risk analysis
- Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Experience with financial modeling tools and CRM systems
