Molding Manager

The position of Molding Manager / Senior Mold Maker is a hybrid role which allows for an individual with previous mold making and management experience to be key in leading team members and providing guidance as well as assist in multiple departments as required. We are looking for a senior professional who will be key in demonstrating senior mold making capabilities while fostering team management success! Mold Making Responsibilities •Assembly and disassembly of new and refurbished molds •Troubleshooting of tooling issues •Perform in-process inspection of parts which include visual inspection and/or dimensional measurement for conformance to requirements on defined drawings; •Perform hand grinding, etching and cleaning of new and refurbished mold components; •Good knowledge of grinders, lathes and vertical mills •Cleanliness and organization •Ability to work well with others •Flexibility in shifting from one job to another based off workload and or mold testing, debug requirements. •Follows set attendance/punctuality policies Management Responsibilities • Overseeing the following departments -Quality -Mold Polishing -Surface Grinding -EDM • Creating an environment that promotes continuous learning and team building opportunities •Troubleshooting of Production/ Manufacturing issues •Work closely with team members and make sure they have all necessary information to get their job done successfully. •Cleanliness and organization •Contributing ideas, suggestions and solutions as part of the Management Team •Lead Machines Manufacturing teams in the identification and correction of issues, and in pursuing root cause analysis to prevent re-occurrence •Ensuring that teams meet business KPIs and customer delivery expectations are satisfied •Help facilitate and resolve employee relations issues •Communicating company goals/philosophies to Team Members / Team Leaders •Driving continuous improvement in all areas using Lean and Six Sigma tools •Managing Team Leader work assignments and special projects •Leading Team Leader meetings and participating in weekly status meetings •Developing Team Leaders and Team Members to their full potential •Maintaining world-class housekeeping standards within the Machines operation •Creating an environment that promotes continuous learning and team building opportunities •Contributing ideas, suggestions and solutions as part of the Management Team •May participate in or lead continuous improvement activities Qualifications •Minimum of 4 years’ experience in mold making (a Mold Maker certification is a definite asset) •3-4+ years’ experience in a supervisory role •Must have a high understanding in the following: -Quality Control / Inspection -Mold polishing -Surface Grinding -EDM • College diploma or Certified apprenticeship program (an asset) • Ability to read and understand GD&T symbols, blueprint and CAD drawings • Previous work experience using Hand tools, Power tools and Measuring tools • Inspection experience • Experience working to defined tolerances in milling, turning and/or grinding • Lean experience: Flow / Pull, 5S or Continuous Improvement • Strong Team Player • Knowledge of proper Health and Safety measures • Flexible with rotating shift work
