The Mine Controller (Job Code 2022-018), reporting to the Administration Manager, is a qualified and
experienced accounting professional whose primary responsibility is to manage the daily operations of the
accounting department. This involves supervision of the accounting team, managing the monthly period-end
close, preparation of monthly reports and working closely with mine management and corporate accounting
staff in the timely completion of financial reporting objectives
Your work will include:
• Supervision of the accounting department which includes the following:
o Mine site accountants including general, capital, and project accounting
o Payroll Administration
o Accounts payable
• Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
o Month-end close process and preparation of monthly reporting
o Accounts payable
o General ledger maintenance and reconciliation
o Fixed asset reconciliations and project cost tracking
o Budget to actual review
o Cost and cash flow forecasting
• Works closely with site management to facilitate the completion of monthly reporting and analyze
variances within departments.
• Preparation of annual budget and monthly budget to actual review.
• Works closely with corporate accounting staff towards the completion of monthly financial reporting
objectives and to adhere to IFRS and corporate policies.
• Support management team with on-going and ad hoc analysis for operational and investment decisions.
• Coordinate and complete external and internal audit reviews
• Ensure compliance with Copper Mountain Mining Corp, and IFRS reporting requirements, corporate
accounting standards and statutory financial obligations
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent, and successfully completed the CPA program
• Minimum of 5 years accounting, reconciliation, control and reporting experience in a supervisory
position and mining industry experience preferred.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS, GAAP)
• Have excellent written and verbal skills and high attention to detail in all areas of work
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to liaise with other departments as well as external parties
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Computer skills should include ERP systems as well as advanced Microsoft Office suite
• Knowledge of Maximo ERP and Microsoft Great Plains Software an asset
• Must pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing.
WORK ENVIRONMENT?
• Scenic travel to and from mine site.
• Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
• Occasional overtime.
