Metrology Specialist

Salary: $66,560 - $72,800 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Calibrate and certify test equipment according to precise technical specifications to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Utilize inspection and testing methods to develop products that not only meet but exceed customer expectations for quality and functionality.
  • Examine manufactured products rigorously to confirm compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement programs for Vision Systems to boost the effectiveness of quality control measures.
  • Maintain and safeguard all plant inspection, measurement, and test equipment to uphold integrity and precision.
  • Create detailed work instructions for the use and maintenance of measuring equipment.
  • Train and guide staff in the proper use, care, and handling of measurement tools to ensure consistency and safety in operations.
  • Drive the establishment of corrective and preventive action plans to remedy identified quality issues proactively.
  • Perform essential measurements on initial production parts to approve machine release for manufacturing.
  • Provide exemplary customer support through on-site testing, line trials, and prompt quality notifications.
  • Analyze data meticulously to prepare detailed summaries and reports that help validate or highlight deviations from established standards.
  • Enhance communication strategies between management and production staff to ensure clear and effective information dissemination.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or higher in metrology, mathematics, science, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Quality or Metrology role, with strong preference for backgrounds in the plastics industry.
  • Proven proficiency in MS Word, Excel, specific QA applications, and general mathematics.
  • Robust experience with Vision Systems or Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
  • Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical knowledge and experience with statistical process control techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, especially within plastics or similar industries.
  • Advanced training and direct experience providing Quality Systems training to employees.
  • Expertise in diagnosing injection defects and handling complex assemblies.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrable skills in team management and training.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing innovative quality assurance programs.
