Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace, New York (Bohemia) has an exciting opportunity for a methods engineer. In this full-time permanent position, the successful incumbent will provide Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering support to contract manufacturing partners during development builds and production ramp. They will also play a key role in identifying, initiating, and driving process improvements that reduce process cycle times and cost, while maintaining quality.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of MRP systems in order to create maintain Manufacturing plans, Bill of materials, part masters, detail assembly instructions for large assemblies, etc. (Cincom preferred).
  • Provide Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering support to contract manufacturing partners during development builds and production ramp
  • Resolve manufacturing, field failure issues, and quality issues. Identify, initiate, and drive process improvements that reduce process cycle times and cost, while maintaining quality.
  • Root cause and failure analysis utilizing systematic approach (Lean / Six Sigma tools preferred).
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to perform multiple tasks and work within specified time lines
  • Create rework instruction for discrepant items based on customer dispositions

Position Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • High degree of analytical and critical thinking
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team, as well as independently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Knowledge of GD& T. & CAD knowledge is a must
  • Understanding of various manufacturing processes including but not limited to milling, turning, grinding, NDT testing, protective coatings, heat treat, etc.
