We are searching for a Metallurgist-Technical Service to join our client's growing team.

Basic responsibilities of the Metallurgist-Technical Service include:
  • Working with sales and operations to address customer specific requirements and product needs
  • Knowledge of production process and products to determine if capability matches customer's requirements, and develop suitable products where necessary
  • Lead product performance investigations, determining root causes, and dispositioning technical claims
  • Understanding of service center processing and products
  • Communicating technical concepts in simple and relatable ways to foster understanding with both customers and internal teams
  • Collaborating with the sales team, product and process metallurgists to develop new grades/products or processes to support customers' business and market needs
  • Collaborating with the customer to solve their steel related processing problems
  • Work with technical and commercial teammates from other divisions to support customers
  • Travel up to 40%
Qualifications for the position include:
  • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Engineering or a related technical field
  • Aptitude for customer claims resolution and application engineering
  • 2+ years of industrial experience or Tech Service in a similar product line
  • A strong commitment to safety in all job aspects
  • Dedication to continuous improvement within the department
  • Commitment to cost reduction and product quality
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities
  • Ability to contribute effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of hot rolled, pickled and galvanized/galvannealed products
  • Training in conducting root cause analysis and facilitating problem solving initiatives
  • Familiarity with Lean and/or Six Sigma methodology
  • Familiarity with IATF16949 or ISO 9001 and 8D Corrective Action requirements
