We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Specimen Accessioner to join our dynamic team at our Atlanta-based laboratory. This role primarily involves the handling and processing of laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and tissue specimens. The successful candidate will play a vital role in facilitating the diagnostic process, working closely with laboratory professionals to ensure the accuracy and integrity of test results. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect specimens to ensure conformity to required standards; prepare them for further analysis.
- Log and track all specimens accurately in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Conduct thorough internal audits to ensure that all clinical charts and data adhere to laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work collaboratively across departments to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen quality and documentation, ensuring seamless laboratory operations.
- Maintain stringent standards of cleanliness and organization within the laboratory to prevent contamination and ensure workplace safety.
- Follow all laboratory safety protocols and procedures strictly to ensure a safe working environment.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related scientific field.
- Up to 2 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in specimen processing.
- Proven record of meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet rigorous deadlines.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with computer systems including database management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a medical or clinical laboratory environment.
- Advanced certification or training in laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
- Experience with LIMS or other similar laboratory data management systems.
- A demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Keen problem-solving skills and the capability to adapt to evolving procedures and policies.
- Knowledge of current medical terminology and laboratory accreditation standards.
