Medical Laboratory Scientist - Boston, MA

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in Boston, MA. This full-time role involves performing routine to complex laboratory tests in a state-of-the-art medical facility, enabling accurate medical analyses and contributing to high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for ensuring the reliability of tests conducted and the maintenance of our laboratory equipment. With multiple shifts available and a highly collaborative work environment, this role is suited for a diligent professional looking to make a significant impact in healthcare diagnostics.

Salary: Depends on Experience per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls, ensuring consistency and integrity of results.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to facilitate quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary to avoid any disruptions in laboratory operations.
  • Assist with the processing of specimens when needed, maintaining a smooth operational flow.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining a clean work environment.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • High level of attention to detail and proven ability to manage numerous tasks simultaneously.
  • Compliance with local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in blood bank laboratories is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of SOFT BANK and EPIC laboratory information systems is a plus.
