Brief Description:

To efficiently and cost effectively manage the Mechanical components and the mechanical staff of the Caster

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervision of mechanical personnel and processes of the Caster, LMF, VTD, and Refractory Maintenance areas.
  • Responsible for safety of personnel, equipment reliability and product quality.
  • Train and develop mechanical craft personnel in safety, equipment knowledge, and mechanical maintenance.
  • Plan, control, review and report maintenance costs for the workgroup.
  • A preventive, condition-based maintenance approach to maintenance.
  • Collaborate with operations to maximize process efficiency.
  • Project management / Coordinate and manage jobs with contractor support.
  • Scheduling and tracking work group tasks and down day activities.

  • Experience with high levels of responsibility and decision making
  • Strong troubleshooting skills
  • Must be self-motivated and possess a strong desire for continuous improvement
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word & Excel).
  • 2 or 4 year Engineering degree or equivalent experience.


§ Prior mechanical maintenance experience in some or all of the following areas: Welding & fabricating, Industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, manual & automatic lubrication systems. Water systems, pipe fitting, rigging, bearing & coupling replacement, and ability to read prints & schematics.

  • Continuous casting & secondary steel making experience and extensive experience with process equipment
  • Technical project experience
  • Strong computer skills
