Mechanical Quality and Product Assurance Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Quality and Product Assurance Engineer to join our dynamic aerospace engineering team in Boulder, CO. This role focuses on ensuring the highest quality of mechanical components through rigorous inspection and testing processes. As a crucial member of our quality assurance team, you will be responsible for overseeing machining processes, interpreting complex data, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This position plays a key role in enhancing our product outputs and maintaining our reputation in the aerospace sector.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality of machined parts by overseeing and understanding machining processes.
  • Apply knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to interpret Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) data.
  • Prepare and review AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Conduct incoming inspections to confirm traceability of parts and materials.
  • Review and evaluate supplier sampling inspection reports.
  • Investigate nonconforming materials and document defects through Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
  • Lead Material Review Board (MRB) meetings to determine root causes and drive corrective actions.
  • Execute in-process and final hardware inspections as per build work instructions.
  • Verify in-process and final test results against established test procedures.
  • Ensure complete documentation for build and test processes, including generation of Certificates of Conformance (CoC).
  • Organize and archive all relevant records and objective evidence efficiently.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with internal teams as well as suppliers and customers.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Quality and Product Assurance roles within relevant industries.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
  • Familiarity with Composite Manufacturing Processes.
  • A good understanding of chemical processing methods such as electroless and electroplating.
  • Knowledge of NADCAP certification for special processes.
  • Strong familiarity with various industry standards and specifications.
  • Understanding of IPC accept/reject criteria for PCB, PCBA, and cable assemblies.
  • Experience with J-STD-001 soldering standards.
