Mechanical Estimator

We currently have an opening in the Vaughan area for a Mechanical Estimator who will be responsible for generating mechanical contracting take-offs and assisting in estimates and quotations for new commercial, industrial and institutional projects. We are looking for a detail oriented, self-starter who enjoys working in a fast paced environment and values exceptional customer service. Ideally, this candidate will be at the intermediate or senior level.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

-8 - 12+ years’ experience estimating mechanical contracting projects is required.

-Ability and comfort working in a variety of different work settings (from tenant fit up and retrofits to large new construction)

-Demonstrated ability to read blue prints and familiarity with all types of HVAC & Plumbing equipment and systems

-Familiarity with drainage, vent sizing and Canadian Plumbing code.

-Strong knowledge of the plumbing / HVAC codes.

-Ability to prepare budgets and finalize complete estimates

-Experience working with suppliers and sub-contractors

-4+ years’ Accubid exposure

-Good computer skills, experience using a computerized estimating system and ability to use hand held devices

-Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, professionalism, customer service orientation and strong attention to detail.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working under the direction of the Chief Estimator, responsibilities will include:

-Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings and specifications

-Reviewing bid proposals and information

-Providing input for determining bid strategies and preparing bids

-Preparing timely and accurate full cost estimates for projects, including labour, materials, subcontracts

-Preparing and maintaining a list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.

-Maintaining accurate documentation and project bid files.
