We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team and take on the engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to find solutions for complex mechanical design problems. This role requires leadership in conceptual design, as well as collaboration with engineering teams to ensure successful project execution.

Overview:

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will oversee the engineering and design for larger, more complex HVAC and plumbing projects. The role requires the ability to identify and solve mechanical design challenges while ensuring that designs meet the necessary standards and budget requirements. You will be responsible for developing designs subject to review and approval, organizing project efforts, and leading design and engineering activities throughout the project’s lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of mechanical design for assigned projects.
  • Organize the design and engineering efforts required for each project.
  • Report to the Mechanical Engineering Team Lead regarding scheduling and resource needs.
  • Supervise the work of designers and engineers assigned to the project.
  • Adjust drawings, calculations, and specifications as required by the project team.
  • Familiarize yourself with the project’s scope, engineering, and construction budget.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining design and engineering standards.
  • Use engineering principles, mathematics, and physical sciences to complete drawings independently.
  • Collaborate with the design and construction teams to meet project timelines and budget constraints.
  • Communicate any project scope or budget changes to the team lead.
  • Coordinate project engineering efforts during construction and provide ongoing project quality checks.
  • Support commissioning services and project engineering coordination.
  • Develop preliminary design solutions for complex projects under time constraints.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Professional Mechanical Engineer’s license is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical or HVAC engineering experience in MEP-related work.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, controls, electrical, and construction methods in commercial and institutional settings.
  • High proficiency in spreadsheets, Excel, and other construction industry software.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit design software.
  • Ability to work autonomously and integrate effectively with project teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills with a focus on sharing details consistently with teammates.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and persistence in overcoming project challenges.
  • Capacity to work quickly while maintaining attention to time, cost factors, and budget constraints.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients and team members.
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines effectively.

Working Conditions:
  • Some outdoor work required for project inspections, with occasional exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Occasionally works near mechanical parts, high places, and exposure to fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, and electrical hazards.
  • Work is mostly office-based, with occasional fieldwork at land use developments, construction sites, or public facilities.
  • Physical demands include standing, walking, using drafting instruments, and operating office equipment.
