Mechanical Engineer
PURPOSE: The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting and coordinating the technical and management aspects of projects. They will be accountable for successful completion of assigned projects; ensuring regular contact with all assigned stakeholders’ both internal and external to the company. The Mechanical Engineer will participate in client/contractor meetings, resolve client/engineering and management project issues and assist in preparation of engineering project proposals including technical definition, schedule estimation and resource planning
QUALIFICATIONS:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively participate in writing specifications, researching and selecting suppliers and materials, and ordering preliminary studies as required.
- Ensure any proposed installation fits within existing structures and as required and engage the services of external engineering firms.
- Involved in the selection of general contractors and jointly with the engineering firms, follow up on call for tenders to select service providers
- Management and coordination of all technical activities on assigned projects; plans, schedules, and coordinates assigned personnel and engineering work; monitors work for compliance to project requirements, applicable standards and accepted engineering practices
- Ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned project between all disciplines and all other project participants
- Responsible & accountable to ensure all assigned personnel are coordinating activities with other participants’, and that customer requirements are being achieved or exceeded
- Having sufficient technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing in various disciplines, and to initiate appropriate corrective actions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering
- 7 – 10+ years' experience in paper, tissue, or related continuous processing industry
- Industry experience in Pulp & Paper preferred
- Project Management Professional Certification an asset
- AutoCAD an asset
