Material Handler

Local Agriculture and Construction Wholesaler is looking for a material handler position, this is a TEMPORARY assignment for 4-6 weeks.

ADMINISTRATIVE

• Contact carriers, review their service areas and negotiate shipping discounts.
• Assist in tracing incoming orders for timely delivery, coordinating with the ordering department.
• Assure that trucks, forklifts, trailers and other equipment are kept clean and in good repair and serviced regularly.
• Purchase shipping supplies and other perishable supplies such as paper towels, tissue, soap, light bulbs, flags, cleaning and painting supplies, etc.
• Prioritize work tasks.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE

• Keep warehouse and parts storage area clean and organized; floors swept, sidewalks and entries cleared in inclement weather.
• Keep outside lots free from trash and litter, equipment and components organized and accessible and off the ground when necessary.
• Drag lots as necessary to keep drives level.
• Replace light bulbs as needed.
• Replace flag as needed.

LOCAL RUNS

• Pick up parts, supplies and components from local vendors.
• Pick up attachments and equipment at the various manufacturers.
• Pick up/Deliver customer equipment for the service department.

SHIPPING/RECEIVING

• Pick/Pack/Process all outgoing orders to assure prompt accurate delivery, both UPS and truck.
• Unpack and process all incoming shipments (including containers), check for and file claims for any damage, get paperwork to receiving department.
• Make sure parts numbers are correctly labeled and that parts/components are stored in their proper location.
• Contract carriers for pool loads; stage items and coordinate loading and routing.
• Stage loads and assist loading trailers for salesman deliveries.
• Stage loads for short hauls using contract driver or our people.

SALES SUPPORT

• Meet sales personnel to transfer loads.
• Assist with light assembly and touch-up painting of equipment for shows.
• Assist in moving equipment or hauling equipment to show sites.

MISCELLANOUS

• Perform other job duties as requested by management.
• Must have a valid driver license
• Must have forklift experience
• Must be able to pass DOT physical
• Must have a clean background

Hours: Mon. - Fri., 7:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Compensation: $17/hr
