Position Title: Material Development Support Engineer

Location: Akron, OH

Basic Purpose and Objective

Perform advanced or specialized engineering duties generally focused on new product design, application testing of new technology and improvement of performance deviation. Primarily convert new product design to meet design target specification and ensure plant production equipment and specifications. Act as design and process engineering expert for all the manufacturing sites.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support R&D and plant by interfacing with plant manufacturing, engineering & other internal & external organizations.
• Ensure product and quality systems integrity.
• Ensure plant and corporate design manual requirements are being followed.
• Implement new products and processes and resolve product performance issues.
• Lead and manage the optimization of the manufacturing process for both legacy and next generation products.
• Learn and contribute and/or support small projects or processes of complex scope with limited oversight from management.
• Make recommendations concerning acquisition and use of new technologies and testing equipment to support business needs.
• Present project status and project closures to internal customers and upper management.

Education and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree (Chemical/Material Science Engineering preferred)
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
