MASTER SCHEDULER
TALLASSEE, AL AREA

SUMMARY: The Master Scheduler will develop and maintain the master production schedule to meet customer demand while balancing capacity, inventory, and operational efficiency. This role coordinates with sales, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to adjust schedules, resolve constraints, and support on-time delivery and continuous improvement.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: BS in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or Business is preferred.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced expertise in ERP systems and data modeling in Excel.
  • Analytical Reasoning: Ability to resolve complex conflicts between competing priorities and resource constraints.
  • Negotiation: Strong communication skills to manage expectations between sales teams wanting more output and production teams facing constraints.
  • Mathematical Aptitude: Required for calculating lead times, shrinkage factors, and shipping

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategic Planner: Develops long-term (rolling 3–12 month) and short-term (weekly/daily) production plans.
  • Supply-Demand Balancer: Reconciles customer orders and sales forecasts against available labor, machinery, and materials.
  • Process Owner: Manages the data integrity of ERP/MRP systems to ensure scheduling parameters (lead times, lot sizes) are accurate.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Facilitates communication between Sales, Engineering, Procurement, and the shop floor to align on priorities.
  • Create the Master Production Schedule (MPS): Translate high-level demand forecasts into specific production work orders for individual commodities.
  • Capacity Planning: Perform Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) to identify potential bottlenecks and ensure the facility can handle the planned load.
  • Inventory Management: Determine optimal safety stock levels for finished goods to maximize service levels while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Schedule Maintenance: Adjust the schedule daily to account for material shortages, equipment downtime, or urgent customer requests.
  • Lead Performance Reviews: Chair daily or weekly production meetings and the S&OP (Sales and Operations Planning) or SIOP process meetings.
  • KPI Reporting: Monitor and report on metrics such as on-time delivery (OTD), schedule adherence, and capacity utilization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify process gaps and implement solutions to reduce waste and improve manufacturing throughput.
