Job Summary

The SEO Manager is responsible for helping increase organic traffic to client’s website, with a particular focus on our target audiences and relevant search intent--as well as for helping to grow a culture of SEO at the firm. The ideal candidate is a performance-driven technical SEO who also understands the importance of brand -- someone who knows the ideal character count for a page title and can also craft a clicky metadescription or work a keyword into an H1 in an artful way. The role will work with internal stakeholders (from content marketers to product marketers to technology to UX) and external partners (agency and vendors) to optimize existing content and develop recommendations for new content to meet search demand. The SEO Manager will report to the Executive Director for Audience Acquisition & Growth Marketing; while the role rolls up into the Firmwide Digital Strategy team, the team is considered a Center of Excellence, and this person will also work with the business units to develop SEO talent at the business level.

  • Optimize existing and new content and landing pages for search engine optimization, by performing ongoing keyword research and working with agency and tools
  • Manage the approvals (business unit, compliance, etc.) and execution for on-page optimizations (including metadata, target keywords, internal linking, etc.)
  • Track analytics (p. 1 SERP rankings, SEO traffic, competitors), and create monthly and quarterly SEO reports
  • Develop and execute projects aimed at improving SEO hygiene (fixing broken links, adding missing metadata, etc.)
  • Consult with internal clients on SEO effectiveness, and lead trainings meant to make all marketers fluent in the practice
  • Work with head of paid search to realize economic efficiencies
  • Work with front- and back-end dev teams to make technical changes that will help improve organic exposure
  • Support content teams with whitespace analysis for new content creation that will drive organic search traffic
  • Prioritize special projects (link building, answer boxes, local search, etc.) based on performance potential and audience relevancy
  • Stay current on the latest organic search trends

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an SEO role, client side or agency
  • Experience with analytics as they relate to SEO--Adobe Analytics experience desired
  • Experience with SEO tools--Google Webmaster Tools and BrightEdge preferred
  • Understanding of what factors drive success in SEO in 2019
  • Strong PowerPoint skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative personality, with equal interest in sharing talents as learning from others
  • Sense of humor is a plus
