Company Overview

Our client is a premier Membership Boat Club that owns and operates 90 luxury vessels ranging from 30' to 50' feet. The company specializes in premium day-cruising, entertaining, and coastal exploration. Operating a unique "migratory" model, the fleet services New England during the summer months and transitions to the Carolinas, Florida, and beyond for the winter. With major hubs in FL and New England, they are expanding their team into Connecticut to support their high-end, professionally crewed fleet.

Position Summary

The Marine Systems Technician will manage the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and networking of advanced marine systems across a highly specific fleet of luxury vessels. This person will be given the oppurtunity to work on premium, custom-built day-cruisers (48ft+), iconic jet-propelled picnic boats, sailing catamarans, and center consoles.

Daily Responsibilities

Prep & Logistics

  • Review daily fleet work orders, schematics, parts lists, and captain/crew notes.

  • Coordinate schedules and dockside locations with the service manager.

Technical & On-Site Work

  • Test power supplies, fuses, and signals using multimeters or diagnostic software to isolate bad grounds, corrosion, or software bugs.

  • Mount and integrate equipment (chartplotters, VHF, depth sounders, satellite comms, and safety gear) across the fleet.

  • Ensure all wiring is clean, labeled, and strictly follows ABYC standards.

  • Set up and maintain NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183, and Ethernet networks to ensure seamless integration of radar, autopilot, and onboard entertainment systems.

Calibration & Fleet Readiness

  • Update equipment firmware and calibrate autopilots, digital compasses, and sensors.

  • Coordinate with on-site captains, crew, and other marine trades to ensure vessels are completely turn-key.

  • Maintain tool inventory and attend manufacturer certification training (Garmin, Raymarine, Furuno, etc.).

Key Requirements & Skills

  • Experience with marine networking, IT, and jet-boat or high-end yacht systems is a plus.

  • Ability to work comfortably in tight spaces (bilges, bulkheads) and near the water.

  • Strong professionalism; ability to interface cleanly with captains and management.
  • Diagnose, repair, and service marine mechanical, electrical, plumbing and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform seasonal, corrective and preventative maintenance on engines and general boat systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair boats and associated marine equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain and/or knowledge of marine electronics such as GPS/plotters, VHF radios, and communication/navigation systems.
  • Conduct detailed vessel inspections to identify necessary repairs, safety issues, or system failures.
