MRP & BOM Focus Western Suburbs

We are partnering with a long-established Australian heavy equipment manufacturer to appoint a Manufacturing Systems & BOM Coordinator for a focused, detail-driven role supporting the rollout and improvement of their MRP-driven planning and ordering processes.

This position will suit someone who enjoys structured technical work and wants to build deep, practical understanding of how engineered products are actually manufactured.

The Role

For the first 6–12 months, the role will be primarily focused on establishing accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the company’s MRP system, so the business can reliably transition from drawing-based ordering to MRP-driven ordering.

That involves:

  • working through drawings to understand assemblies and sub-assemblies
  • spending time on the shop floor to see how components are produced and assembled in practice
  • partnering with the design office and workshop to capture undocumented assumptions, build nuances, and real-world variations
  • This is a role for someone who likes to work methodically and sees value in getting the details right — because accurate data underpins reliable planning, purchasing, and job costing

What you’ll be doing

  • Learning how the company’s MRP system is structured and used
  • Reviewing drawings to understand how products are assembled
  • Working with design to clarify intent and assumptions
  • Spending time on the shop floor with trades to understand build methodology, uncover hidden steps and modifications, and document them accurately in the MRP/BOM structure
  • Identifying components, modifications, and processes not fully described on drawings
  • Building and maintaining accurate BOMs that reflect how products are really made

About you

  • You have hands-on exposure to manufacturing and how things come together on the floor
  • You communicate comfortably with trades, engineering, and technical teams
  • You enjoy accuracy-driven, structured work and can follow information through to a clear conclusion
  • You ask good questions and validate information rather than assuming
  • You take ownership of “getting it right” and improving data quality over time

MRP experience is strongly preferred — particularly where you’ve worked with BOM structures, part master data, or production/planning systems.

However, if you have strong manufacturing exposure and have built or maintained BOMs in any system, we’re keen to hear from you.
