MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR
MONTGOMERY, AL
This Supervisor will be responsible for a department of about 26 team members, while successfully overseeing the entire scope of operations in the Finish Room.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for managing all daily operations of the Finish Room, with proper management of the daily flow of parts to ensure the entire schedule is completed on time
- Continuous observation of each area of the Finish Room, ensuring that all employees are properly trained and fulfilling their specific job requirements and that the proper sequence at Line Load is maintained
- Ensure that all Finish Room equipment is properly functioning on a daily basis
- Ensure all color sticks, moldings, and accessories are being hung on the line and sprayed correctly and that replacement parts and rush items are hung and sprayed as quickly as possible
- Effectively communicate with management any labor and/or production scheduling issues that may arise, along with any quality or supply issues
- Inform management when any non-routine maintenance arises and needs to be performed on equipment
- Possess thorough understanding of all plant and zone safety work rules and ensure all employees know that safety is of primary importance
- Thoroughly train and develop new employees
- Monitor the acquisition and use of finish materials and equipment
- Work with equipment vendors to address problems and develop new processes to prevent defects and downtime
- Work with material vendors to troubleshoot defects and potentially launch new color offerings
- Adopt attitude of zero defects when performing all tasks so that quality products are produced
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local governmental regulations
- Ensure all employees clean-up work stations and equipment at end of each work day
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and possibly take on special projects and other duties, as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS, SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, & EXPERIENCE:
- The ideal candidate will possess a background that includes a minimum of 3 years of management of a team of at least 20 employees, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- A Bachelor's degree (OR above), with a specialty in manufacturing/operations, is highly desired.
- The ideal candidate will exhibit an extensive knowledge of the following: LEAN manufacturing practices and problem solving skills, wood species identification, bar coding basics, finish colors, door/drawer front styles, finishing equipment, accessory basics, and different coatings.
- The ideal candidate will have an extensive knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the furniture industry and a clear understanding of all painting, spraying, and staining techniques.
