Growing manufacturer located in the greater Houston, Texas area is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join their team.

Description:

The Operations Engineer shall Monitor and analyze daily production data, and daily operations of the Slitter and the Pipe Mill and work with all related teams to maintain/improve production. You will be expected to determine the most cost-effective methods of processing while improving yield, and cycle times, reducing downtime and scrap, and driving improvements to ensure overall pipe quality (first-pass yield). Evaluate, select, and apply standard and well-defined engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria while managing field personnel to optimize production performance.

  1. Qualifications:

1.1 A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field is required, masters preferred.

1.2 Minimum of 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, or related engineering field.

1.3 Advanced reading, writing, design, and arithmetic skills required working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Auto CAD and Inventor, and/or similar 3d Design Programs.

1.4 Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with subordinates and associates; assess situations and resolve potential problem areas of conflict, Strong communications skills. Team oriented.

1.5 Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require overtime and weekends when necessary.

1.6 Knowledge in Lean/6 Sigma Production Methodology, time studies, and 5S required.

  1. Responsibilities:

2.1 Apply knowledge of principles, practices and procedures for production and problem solving.

2.2 Effectively manage the productivity through mistake proofing, process monitoring and visualization, and conduct data analysis to improve processes.

2.3 Responsible for continuously monitoring the Plant KPI’s to ensure balanced operation rates and optimum operations.

2.4 Champion continuous improvement projects to maximize yield, capacity, and productivity.

2.5 Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment to ensure quality production and productivity.

2.6 Perform time studies, value stream mapping to improve cycle times for setup/changeovers and identify bottlenecks.

2.7 Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations, policies and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.

2.8 Support production operation team management to meet schedule, quality and cost expectations.

2.9 Write and modify SOPs for safe and effective equipment operation.

2.10 Supports HSE-related programs that will increase awareness and promote a safety culture.

  1. Activities:

3.1 Work closely with departments for process improvement and product quality assurance.

3.2 Plan and organize the daily production activities.

3.3 Work with the Operations and other support staff to develop and implement improvements related to production flow, tooling, facilities, material and product overall quality.

3.4 Influence and guide the Operations Team in the establishment of priorities, planning and the implementation of the on-going work.

3.5 Investigates quality defects, find root causes; and works to improve manufacturing system efficiency.

3.6 Other duties as assigned.
