Our Client is a global healthcare company committed to delivering excellent products and services, leading in the manufacturing and distributing of high-quality infection control products. With recently announced federal funding, our client is poised to make a huge impact in healthcare manufacturing in Canada. Due to the recent build of a new plant in London Ontario, they are seeking a Plant Controller / Finance Manager who will play a critical role within the factory as a strategist to optimize operations.

As Plant Controller / Finance Manager, you will act as a finance business partner to operations and manufacturing. You will oversee and manage all financial control and accounting activities regarding the new London plant. This new plant aims to restore supply chain resilience in Canada with the domestic production of high-quality PPE resources. The facility is backed by full resources through a strong partnership with the Ontario provincial government. As Plant Controller, you will be cost-conscious, taking ownership of the financial model and maintaining a firm grasp of the changing economic business plan. This role is pivotal in building the right culture, revolving around the core values of Accountability, Teamwork, Customer Centricity and Empathy, to enable the facility to drive financial performance, results and continuous improvement.

This position will own the standard costing and production costing processes. It will monitor plant operation, direct financial and production output preparation, control plant activities and costs, and the budget. You will work with Operations and Supply Chain to highlight capacity opportunities, constraints and updates from a manufacturing cost perspective while participating in an ERP implementation project. You will iintegrate and train new staff while leading the continued professional development of the existing team. Extensive financial modelling and analysis will be required to keep this capital project on budget with the changing economic climates. The Controller / Finance Manager will work hand in hand with the other departments while maintain tight controls, compliance, reporting and planning standards.

The Ideal Candidate will hold their CPA designation and be able to demonstrate their growth to a leadership role. They will have experience in implementing processes or involvement in starting up finance functions at new facilities with a minimum of seven years of experience in similar roles in a complex industrial manufacturing setting. The candidate will have experience in the manufacturing industry, and have a thorough understanding of cost accounting and financial planning. The Controller will be confident in a management position with board and executive-level communications and reporting. They will be proficient in the following areas;

  • Cost accounting and cost efficiencies
  • Managing complex financial models through advanced Excel
  • Accounting principles, financial reporting standards, budgeting procedures and cost control systems
  • ERP system implementations

Must be able to travel internationally periodically
