Job Description

Our client located in Melville is looking to hire a Human Resources Manager on a direct hire basis. The hiring company has been well established for decades and is and is seeking someone to be a true HR generalist within their team. Core days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening/weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This position will be onsite.

JOB TITLE: Human Resources Manager

SUMMARY: The Human Resources Manager leads and provides hands- on support for day-to-day HR functions, including; Recruitment, Training and Development, Employee Relations, Talent Management, Leave Management and Compliance and ensures Human Resources activities and functions are fully aligned and integrated with department and company strategies

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: (Includes but not limited to) Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Recruitment and Selection:

  • Manage the talent acquisition process. Support all levels of leadership in evaluating and fulfilling staffing needs. Efficiently use all internal/external resources available to attract and retain qualified applicants; source, screen and interview candidates to maximize value of human assets.

Employee Relations:

  • Represent, assist and advise leadership of team member issues including complaint resolution, fair and consistent treatment of team members, policy development and disciplinary action to achieve a productive team member/leadership relationship.
  • Create and foster the on-going development of positive employee relations to enable an effective and efficient culture and a positive working environment.

HR Administration:

  • Support HCM and Payroll system administration.

People and Organization (P&O):

  • Support talent management initiatives via performance reviews (individual performance and career management). Ensure that team members are provided with effective feedback on their performance and their career that results in increased performance/commitment, enhanced team member learning/development, and improved retention of high performance/potential team members. Ensure succession planning for individual contributors and leadership positions, training and development programs for preparing leaders for more significant responsibilities and general business development programs to enhance team member knowledge and understanding of the business.

Training and Development:

  • Identify and prioritize company-wide training needs; deliver effective training programs using internal and external resources to address those needs. Conduct leadership training as needed. Coach leaders for performance excellence. Ensure training initiatives are implemented consistently across all business units.

Culture:

  • Help to sustain a progressive culture of distributed authority, responsibility and accountability, along with trust, honesty and respect. Establish credibility throughout the organization with leadership and team members in order to be an effective listener and problem solver of people issues. Coach leadership team to create and maintain a work environment with high morale and productivity. Ensure visibility and Human Resources presence in all company locations.

Compliance:

  • Ensure consistent adherence to policies and procedures across the organization in compliance with applicable local/state/federal employment laws. Take a proactive approach to establishing a culture of compliance within the organization.

Strategic Planning:

  • Participate in Human Resources Strategic Planning by identifying HR constraints and opportunities for the business. Ensure that organizational changes are made with optimum advantage, and steps are taken to minimize adverse impacts on team members.

Technology:

  • Stay current with HCM technology, distance learning and training tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA or BS in related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of HR Experience.
  • Course work in HR or certification as PHR or SPHR is highly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in written and verbal form.
  • History of training and self-education in a broad range of topics: organizational behavior, finance, planning, human resources management, employment law, etc. coupled with creativity, communication and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational capability.
  • Ability to develop annual business plans and budgets preferred. Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize financial resources to control costs.
  • Understanding of information technology and its impact on the business processes.
  • Able to travel to and from various offices as needed.

Salary is based upon experience but the target is $90k-115k plus bonus and a complete benefits package.
