Executive Search Associates is seeking a Manager of Health Information to lead and optimize health information management operations for a critical access hospital in beautiful Oregon. This role offers the opportunity to drive operational excellence in a high-impact, fast-paced environment while mentoring and guiding a skilled team of health information professionals.
Description:
The Manager of Health Information will oversee all aspects of the hospital's health information management (HIM) operations, including clinical documentation compliance, coding, data governance, and electronic health record (EHR) optimization. As a key liaison between clinical and operational leadership, this role plays a pivotal part in enhancing coding accuracy, operational workflows, and regulatory compliance.
This position also involves leading and mentoring a dedicated team, improving internal processes, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration within the department.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with clinical documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage coding and clinical documentation improvement (CDI) functions across all settings (inpatient, outpatient, ancillary, and clinics).
- Oversee release of health information, forms management, and vital record processing (birth and death certificates).
- Coordinate data governance and optimize the hospital’s use of its EHR system.
- Support, mentor, and develop a high-performing HIM team.
- Act as a liaison between clinical and operational leaders to enhance department collaboration and effectiveness.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with RHIA or RHIT certification.
- Experience: Minimum of three years in HIM with hands-on coding experience (inpatient, outpatient, ancillary, and clinic settings preferred).
- Proven leadership experience managing staff and navigating the complexities of department operations.
- Proficiency in office software (email, PowerPoint, Teams); familiarity with Epic EMR preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive leadership style.
