Manager of Fraud – Prevention and Detection Job Description

As the Manager of Fraud - Prevention and Detection, you will develop and manage the strategic direction of overall enterprise fraud risk management, prevention techniques, reporting and oversight. Coordinates and drives inter-departmental initiatives related to every aspect of fraud within online lending activities including and not limited to 1st party, 3rd party, synthetic, and internal fraud risks. Develops and drives the implementation of automated underwriting algorithms, know-your-customer processes during onboarding to minimize fraud risk exposure while providing optimal customer flows. Implements and executes business plans, drives and champions change and provides feedback to senior management. Assist in tactical operational issues and resolution activities related to fraud.

This position can work remotely in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel.

The Opportunity

What you'll do:

  • Develop strategies and solutions to enable CSI to conduct lending business activities (onboard new accounts, maintenance accounts, make/receive payments through ACH/debit, etc.) while reducing loss exposure related to 1st party, 3rd party, synthetic, and internal fraud risks.
  • Develop and drive implementation of business solutions for automated underwriting process for online lending.
  • Ensure activities are aligned with the corporate mission, strategy, and objectives of the company.
  • Develop analytical team members and staff knowledge and collaborates with Fraud Strategy stakeholders to ensure best in class detection solutions are delivered in a timely, cost-effective manner.
  • Develop solutions (technical and nontechnical) that enable seamless customer experience while mitigating fraud risks and abiding all governing rules and guidance imposed by regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with business partners to plan, prepare and forecast potential losses, develop mitigating controls and educate business stakeholders on fraud schemes and industry trends.
  • Develop key metrics and reports trends, industry developments and best practices.
  • Present information to executive management to raise fraud awareness and education.
  • Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.

What you have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Master’s in analytical sciences preferred.
  • 6 years of financial services experience, to include at least 3 years of online lending fraud or operational experience in one or more of the following areas: check, wire, ACH, securities/brokerage, card, ID theft, corporate security investigations, collections underwriting, risk, compliance, internal audit, or other related experience.
  • Familiarity of federal regulations as they relate to lending, investigations, case resolution, SAR filing, and recovery.
  • Experience developing strategies and managing major initiatives pertaining to Fraud operations and/or operational risk.
