Our client, a publicly traded media company, is looking for a Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, who will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and filing of all SEC reports (including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K), ensuring compliance with SEC and GAAP regulations, providing technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and staying up to date with new accounting pronouncements.
The Manager will also collaborate closely with senior leadership, external auditors, and internal teams to provide strategic insight on accounting matters and help drive process improvements within the financial reporting function.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the preparation and timely filing of quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with SEC regulations and US GAAP. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of filings such as 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and other required filings
- Analyze new accounting pronouncements (e.g., from the FASB or SEC) and ensure timely and accurate implementation
- Lead the utilization of Workiva for financial reporting processes, ensuring seamless preparation and submission of external filings
- Serve as a primary contact for external auditors regarding technical accounting issues and financial reporting
- Ensure SOX compliance related to SEC reporting processes
- Collaborate with other departments such as FP&A, Tax, Legal and Investor Relations on quarterly earnings releases
- Provide technical accounting expertise on complex transactions such as revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, business combinations, lease accounting, and impairment analysis
- Analyze the company’s goodwill and intangible assets for potential impairments, and manage ongoing valuation assessments
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance
- Experience using Workiva for financial reporting and compliance
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
- Strong technical accounting background, including knowledge of recent accounting pronouncements (e.g., ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification required. 4-6 years of relevant experience, preferably in a public company environment and/or a large accounting firm.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Base compensation starting at $130K, plus eligible for cash bonus. Comprehensive benefits offerings include, Major Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA, HSA, 401K, PTO, elective supplemental options, and bonus as applicable.
