The Manager, Nursing Professional Practice is responsible for system-wide coordination of activities required to attain and maintain ANCC Magnet Designation for the entities identified by the Executive Team. This role includes, but is not limited to providing education to nurses and all partners across the system about the standards required for Magnet Designation, serving as the resource for the entity and system Shared Governance Structures, overseeing the collection and submission of key nurse sensitive indicators and development of reports for submission to the ANCC Magnet Office and Executive Nursing, and ensuring one Nursing Professional Practice Model is established across the system and supports the organization's strategic initiatives. .. The Manager will report to the System Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and partner with the entity CNOs and the Magnet Steering Committee to facilitate and ensure nursing practice is above national standards in clinical practice, patient satisfaction, and nurse engagement. Oversees the preparation of documentation, policies, research activities related to acquiring and maintaining Magnet designation. The Manager will have the autonomy and authority to work with key nursing leaders and staff to advance the organization's Magnet strategic goals. This role requires high visibility with nursing staff at all hospitals and clinics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with the System and entity CNO's, and Magnet Steering Committee:

·         Uses exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills to serve as the    project manager for Magnet re-designation

·         Oversees and coordinates the application process for Magnet re-designation.

·         Develops and mentors the Nursing Practice Council Chairs across the system and oversees the development of a Shared Governance Model in all entities

·         Supports departments in various Performance Improvement activities while working closely with the Department of Quality

·          Identifies opportunities and solutions that may foster change and lead to the advancement of Magnet initiatives

·          Develops and mentors the role of Magnet Champions in all departments in the system where nurses practice

·         Develops a communication plan which keeps nurses across the system informed and linked together

·          Develops a plan to educate all partners of Health System Has familiarity with components of a Magnet environment and champions magnet strategies across the system, both internal to nursing and with ancillary and support service departments.

·         Serve as a consultant and resource expert for performance improvement activities designed to improve the quality of patient care and to ensure annual unit PI projects are meaningful and measurable.

·         Ensure unit quality data boards provide meaningful and up to date information.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, & EXPERIENCE

·         Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Prefer Masters in Nursing or enrolled in a MSN program.

·         Must have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible nursing experience.

·         Experience working in Magnet environment and with Shared Governance/Nursing Practice Council Structures.

·         Certification in Specialty preferred; required within three years of accepting position

·         Demonstrated success with Project Management.

·         Experience with interpretation and display of data.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

·         Licensed professional nurse in WI and IL
