Manager of ER Emergency

Our client is a multi facility medical center in CA. They are part of one of the largest, most successful and decorated health systems in the United States. It offers both community based and tertiary medical services. Their location has over 400 licensed beds and is a not-for-profit. They have received special recognition for quality by the Joint Commission this year and won a Consumer Choice award for hospitals from the National Research Council.


They have an opening for a true "A" player to spearhead their rapidly expanding and dynamic Emergency Room. This is one of the top 10 busiest ERs in CA with over 250 visits per day.

The position reports to a Director of Critical Care who in turn reports to the CNE and they need a strong leader to continue to grow and improve the team! Knowledge of lean principles a big plus!


The selected candidate functions within the full scope of licensure and facilitates the nursing process to include the following: assessment of patient/family and staff needs; development of a plan of care based on assessment; coordination and direct implementation of care plan for a group of patients and the review and evaluation of effectiveness of care plan.

The RN Department Manager assumes responsibility for the operation of a designated patient care unit on a 24 hour, seven days per week basis. The manager assures the components of the mission and objectives of the department are carried out in the daily operations of the unit.

The RN Department Manager is accountable for the monitoring and analysis of the unit's financial performance. The manager plans, organizes, directs, controls, evaluates, monitors, budgets and communicates to effectively provide highest achievable professional standards.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Current licensure as an RN in the State of California or eligible
  • Masters degree with 2 years clinical experience in the area of concentration or
     Baccalaureate Degree with 5 years current experience in area of concentration or 
     Diploma or Associate Degree with 10 years current clinical experience in the area of concentration, National Certification in area of Specialty, if available.
  • Experience in a position in which demonstrated managerial and leadership qualities is required of all education levels.
  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of nursing process, performance improvement, budget and accounting, management of human resources, age specific competency, patient rights and organizational rights, environment of care including regulatory requirements.
  • Successful completion of MHA nursing managerial orientation.
