Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VP/GM of a global provider of logistics solutions and transportation services through its freight forwarding & logistics network operating out of 55 locations in 27 states in the U.S. Our client’s service offering includes specialized handling of air, land, sea and express packages and all types and sizes of cargo, personal effects and household goods. Related services such as warehousing, distribution and customs brokerage & clearance are also provided. Our client has enjoyed tremendous growth and success as one of the top 5 international freight forwarders in the world!

The Manager, Carrier Management is responsible to assist the General Manager in directing daily business operations of the 6 Air Gateway locations which are located in major markets. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) should be able to confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and clearly communicate business objectives. The AGM must be able to competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager and will address any issues in a timely fashion. Will ensure company policies and procedures are followed and will nurture a positive working relationship with the branch staff.

Background Required:
  • International Freight Forwarding experience (10+ years)
  • Excellent knowledge of Air freight import / export operations & processes
  • Excellent knowledge of US Airfreight gateway operations
  • Strong experience in air freight procurement
  • Strong relationships with air carriers
  • Working Knowledge of general and Export Computer application technology
  • Knowledge of international commerce (Incoterms, method, customs regulations etc.)
  • Knowledge of Consolidator system
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Residence: Commutable to Des Plaines, IL
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Knowledge of DOT, TSA, FAA, State, Federal & ICC regulation
  • Supervision or team leadership
  • Knowledge of warehousing
