Job Summary
Oversee the daily operations of a sand mining facility, including the supervision of salaried supervisors and hourly personnel. Responsibilities include budgeting, mine planning, permitting, contractor and vendor coordination, and local community engagement. This role is an integral part of the plant leadership team, focused on aligning mine operations with broader business objectives and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture, emphasizing zero-incident performance.

  • Support and participate in safety observation and intervention programs.

  • Champion workforce health, well-being, and productivity.

  • Track and control operational costs to meet budget targets.

  • Ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operations in coordination with safety and environmental personnel.

  • Drive continuous improvement in operational methods to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

  • Collaborate with planning and quality control teams to develop and execute both short- and long-term mining plans.

  • Manage production to meet established targets and timelines.

  • Optimize scheduling to control overtime and manage employee time off.

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure reliable equipment performance and proper servicing.

  • Manage the procurement of routine materials and supplies, working with purchasing personnel as needed.

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable zoning and permitting requirements.

  • Lead the development of the site's annual operating budget.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.

  • Serve as a liaison to the surrounding community and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders.

  • Interpret financial reports and apply insights to operational decision-making.

  • Leverage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to guide production performance and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Work with the sales team to align production with inventory needs and customer demand forecasts.

  • Adhere to all applicable safety policies and regulations; wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while on-site.

  • Consistently meet or exceed established safety performance standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in mining operations required.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and a willingness to learn mining-specific software (e.g., Surpac Quarry) is preferred.

  • Ability to work effectively in outdoor environments with occasional physical labor.

  • Highly self-motivated and collaborative with a results-oriented mindset.


Working Conditions

  • Must be available for extended hours and occasional overnight travel as required.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary and move throughout the site as needed.

  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires sitting, walking, and standing for various periods.

  • Regular verbal communication required for coordinating with team members and visitors.
