Working with a team of professionals who take pride in their roles and are not afraid to jump in to help, our client still maintains some “start up” mentality while their business continues to evolve, and they are now seeking a Manager of General Accounting to manage the monthly close process to ensure timely and efficient filing. With a dynamic team in place and a reputable brand, our client is poised for continued growth within their industry.
As Manager of General Accounting, you will lead the preparation and review of the quarter-end and year-end working papers while reviewing and approving any financial system change requests, playing a key role in the new financial system implementation. You will supervise and mentor a small team of General Accountants. You will be required to write technical accounting memos and handle complex accounting transactions, including joint venture accounting and PPE disposal, while adhering to and promoting accounting controls by following policies and procedures that comply with federal, provincial and local financial, legal requirements. You will assist with or directly provide accounting memos in preparing and maintaining accounting policies and recommend improvements for gathering, summarizing, and reporting financial information. You will additionally;
- Monitor the general ledger for accuracy and effectiveness
- Control owner of various ICFR and SOX processes around revenue, cash, and ERP system
- Identify, investigate, analyze and report on account variances
- Ensure general ledger balance sheet accounts are reconciled
- Ensure all general ledger adjustment journal entries are posted and monthly working papers are prepared
The Ideal Candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field and an accounting designation with at least five years of experience working in general accounting and managing accounting activities for an environment that involves multiple projects, ideally in a manufacturing setting. They will have demonstrated leadership experience – performance management, commitment to team results, and knowledge of consolidation and elimination. The candidate will have strong technical accounting skills and analytical and organizational skills. They will display advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience working with an ERP system, ICFR & SOX compliance in a publicly-traded company.
