Maintenance Technician performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repair procedures on buildings, mechanical equipment, pneumatic, electrical and/or hydraulic systems and/or components, utility systems and grounds. Fabrication of wood or iron fixtures and/or components.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

  • Effectively uses a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Observes machine operation to detect machine malfunctions.
  • Operates and performs maintenance on fabrication and shop machines 95% of time on a daily basis.
  • Operates, repairs any equipment other than fabrication and shop machines 5% of time on a daily basis.
  • Climbs and stands on ladder 8-12’ on a regular basis.
  • Rising and standing on a scissor lift up to 30’ on a regular basis.
  • Performs electrical installation and repair work in wiring of switches, outlets, plugs, cable power circuits and appliances; repairs lighting systems, inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions.
  • Perform basic rough carpentry work and painting.
  • Identifies and performs basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks, opens clogged lines and drains, replaces washers and other minor parts.
  • Maintains grounds, ground maintenance equipment and makes repairs.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Ability to do detailed work with accuracy.

  • Education And/Or Experience: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of responsible experience with basic mechanical, pneumatics, plumbing, electrical and hydraulic systems or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to read and interpret metal ruler.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mental Ability: Sufficient mental and emotional stability to perform job related functions.
  • Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Required: Passing Physical Capacity test and drug test.

Hours:
*First Shift: Mon. - Fri., 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (1 opening)
*Second Shift: Mon. - Fri., 3:30 p.m. to Midnight (1 opening)
Must be available to work OT as needed
