Maintenance Technician
MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I (NIGHT SHIFT)
Summary/Objective: The Maintenance Technician I preforms routine and preventative maintenance and simple repairs for designated equipment and facilities. Preforms a variety of troubleshooting tasks and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor to verify work task and duties.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Basic concepts of algebra and geometry to calculate proportions, percentages, area, volume, etc.
- One or two years related experience.
Essential Functions
- Knowledge of general maintenance techniques, processes and procedures for the repair, installation and modification of a variety of equipment and systems.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, drawings and other written installation and repair instructions.
- Troubleshooting and repair of electric motor control circuits and systems.
- Troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Troubleshooting and repair of resistant welding equipment.
- Power distribution (480 VAC and below).
- Document work performed in maintenance management system.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- First Aid Knowledge.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, and senior management in both a verbal and written manner.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions and to interpret plans and sketches.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude to facilitate ability to recommend necessary improvements to Maintenance Supervisor.
- Basic knowledge of industrial power systems, electricity, oil and gas machinery, and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to use equipment designed to inspect, test, monitor, and measure safe environmental levels.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize and effectively manage time to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work long hours and weekends.
- Ability to respond to all emergency or non-emergency situations.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, reach, bend, climb, squat, crawl, talk, and listen for long periods of time.
- Ability to travel in relation with the work and/or continued education.
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, industrial machines, digital cameras, phones, scanners, tools, and controls in a safe manner.
- Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, hand-eye coordination.
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to wear protective equipment such as safety glasses.
- Ability to work and concentrate in a noisy environment.
- Requires working with a wide variety of other job groups and involves working around traffic, heights, electricity, hydraulics, and heavy equipment including moving parts.
- Must have manual dexterity.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing plant environment with extreme fluctuations in temperature.
- Dusty and noisy environment
