Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for maintaining the production machinery and equipment, physical plant, utilities, and grounds for the facility. Major duties include conducting and refining on preventive maintenance programs, performing maintenance tasks in support of plant modernization and expansion projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and improving equipment availability and reliability. Responsible for meeting safety, production, quality, food safety and performance standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Must follow safety guidelines, wear designated personal protective equipment, and meet OSHA safety requirements.

- Using Maintimizer to pull work orders and complete assigned tasks.

- Support daily service calls and other plant activities to maintain daily production operations.

- Work with maintenance parts clerk to accurately identify replacement parts and other misc. items (electrical parts, mechanical parts, utility components, etc.)

- Complete assigned WOs and other maintenance responsibilities from the plant’s maintenance lead.

- Work unsupervised on assigned tasks.

- Performs work in accordance with safety and health policies and procedures; and ensures proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.

- Ensures the physical plant, grounds, production machinery and equipment, and utilities are maintained in accordance with all applicable federal and state regulations and TC standards.

- Performs varied maintenance duties to include safety inspections, work orders and preventive maintenance to meet established maintenance and operations objectives.

- Accountable for all projects, repairs and /or improvements on the line as well as maintaining preventative maintenance.

- Organizes work for smooth, efficient operations; accurately tracks all time and materials used to perform work orders and other repairs using both manual and electronic means.

- Transfers waste oil to DOT-approved drums. Responsible for proper labeling, material handling, and storage of the plant’s hazardous materials and waste, and regulated materials and waste as well as universal wastes like fluorescent bulbs

- Operates a fork truck and maintains valid Powered Industrial Vehicle license.

- Troubleshoots equipment problems and coordinates necessary repairs.

- Obtains prior approval of the Maintenance Manager for all maintenance purchases; follows the established purchasing and receiving procedures.

- Assists with cleaning the maintenance shop and the utility room.

- Recommends, plan, repair, modify, and fabricate any necessary elements following a problem or a project.

- Analyzes and resolves all issues related to the equipment.

- Ensure cleanliness of all equipment and related areas after repairs or PM’s

- Assists and trains production employees in machine conversions and PM.’

- Maintains all tools in good and safe condition and ensure tools are returned to their appropriate location.

- Attends and participates in maintenance department and plant meetings.

- Completes a minimum of one safety behavior observation/near miss report each month.

- Position requires flexibility to include shift changes and overtime; must be able to work 12-hour rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as required.

- Lift up to 40 pounds

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Competencies:

- Minimum High School diploma or GED equivalent and two (2) year technical school degree or equivalent experience, documented Journeyman level in at least one of the following crafts: electrician (including PLC experience), millwright (including hydraulics, pneumatics, and piping).

- Working knowledge of presses and converting equipment preferred

- Basic computer skills required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

- 10 years or more of mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience in an industrial setting.

- Mechanic certification preferred.

- Working knowledge in Amplas bag machines, plastic extrusion machineries, and/or gravure printing press.

v Working knowledge of and experience in repairing and maintaining common machinery in a plant setting such as pumps, motors, chillers, air compressors, etc.

v Knowledge of using CMMS to pull work orders and complete assigned tasks.

v Mechanic certifications, preferred.

v Knowledge in hydraulic and pneumatic

v Have basic knowledge of electricity and control.

v Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

v Must demonstrate ability though previous work assignments to work effectively in a fast-paced high-quality manufacturing environment.

v Must wear safety equipment, personal protective equipment, as required in the area or to perform specific job duties.

v Perform all housekeeping assignments.

v Reliable and predictable attendance

v Must be able to work unsupervised.

v Able to help organize and maintain maintenance areas and stock room.
