MAINTENANCE Supervisor
- We are currently seeking a Mechanical Supervisor to join our team of skilled professionals
- Position Overview:
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the primary roles and responsibilities of the Maintenance Supervisor are to provide front-line leadership in the Maintenance department, and be responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company. The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure that all maintenance activities are executed to improve safety, reliability and with quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line supervision, technical assistance and training to Maintenance department Millwrights
- Understand and reinforce the value of our behavioural based safety program (STOP), and use other tools such as Risk Assessments and Safety Shares to address safety concerns
- Ensure all work performed adheres to all regulations, policies, procedures and work instructions
- Interface with Production and Engineering on downtime/RCA, shutdown planning, process troubleshooting, preparing and proposing recommendations, process upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives
- Plan, assign, direct and inspect the work of personnel involved in maintaining and repairing equipment, structures, utility systems and buildings
- Lead a positive change effort to improve performance by motivating, recognizing and inspiring others to be effective and efficient in their activities
- Responsible for processing Maintenance work orders, purchase requisitions, weekly schedules, PM’s and updating the equipment database (CMMS)
- Ensure proper documentation and completion of reports (compliance, checklists, audits, work orders, incident investigations, metrics, hot work, confined space, etc.)
- Drive accountability for both results and actions of direct reports
- Assist in the control of maintenance costs through managing spare parts
- Evaluate individual employee skill levels and training requirements towards maintaining and improving quality of work and safe work habits
- Support and continue to develop the use of advanced maintenance technologies to improve the reliability of the operation
- Participate in hiring and training of personnel
- Develop, review and update maintenance instructions and procedures
- Work closely with Operations and Electrical Maintenance personnel
- Review or prepare drawings and specifications for contract work and inspect work performed to determine compliance to standards
- Participate in the development of the capital and maintenance budgets
Qualifications:
- Licensed Millwright with Red Seal Certification required
- Mechanical/Industrial Engineering Degree or Diploma is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience in a continuous manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge and experience with CMMS
- Structured problem solving tools to determine root cause of failures
- Strong maintenance knowledge including reliability concepts, and experience with advanced maintenance technologies (condition monitoring, precision alignment, oil analysist, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and manuals
- Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook
- Experience with process safety management and creating a culture where all accidents are preventable
- Highly developed interpersonal, leadership, coaching, mentoring, delegation and people management skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Ability to build morale and influence positive change
- This role is on-call and will periodically require weekend work
