Maintenance Supervisor

PURPOSE: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the production lines/facility are maintained at an efficient level in order to maximize the asset availability and production at this integrated paper mill in the Midwest.   • Understands, promotes, and utilizes all safe work procedures and practices.
  • Supervise multi-craft technicians and employees (~8 direct reports) in order to implement an efficient maintenance schedule, utilizing knowledge of equipment and manufacturing processes, according to established standards and procedures.
  • Supervisory responsibilities: Interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, directing, and appraising performance; disciplining, addressing and resolving complaints/issues; scheduling
  • Coordinates the repair and preventative maintenance schedules of all manufacturing equipment and processes with the Production Department
  • Responsible for Maintenance Spending / Budget and other Key Performance Indicators
  • Assists other departments with recommended changes to existing processes to obtain maximum utilization of equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and implements corrective actions
  • Oversee the rebuilding or installation of electric or instrumentation equipment and systems
  • Read and analyze task or project assignments in order to design and implement necessary repair or replacement.
  • Oversees building and grounds including building upkeep.
  • Develop and maintain an effective organization through the selection, training and motivation of maintenance employees.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with ISO 9000/2000 and 14001.


  • B.S./A.S. Engineering (or related technical field)
  • Open to training equaling the level equivalent considering a combination of education and experience.
  • Previous heavy industry experience; Pulp & Paper, Metals, Cement, Chemicals, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and all aspects of maintenance.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office and work order systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in mechanical, electrical, and other maintenance functions.
  • Project planning experiences.
  • Ability to bring together maintenance personnel toward personal achieving departmental and plant goals.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills required.
