Maintenance Planner
Responsibilities
- The planner’s main focus will be on creating maintenance job plans. This position will identify all procedures, materials, spare parts, tools and labor requirements for the jobs.
- Gather information and catalogue it into the CMMS database.
- Follow up on accuracy of maintenance job plans. Analyze and track maintenance planning effectiveness and solicit feedback on the maintenance job plans.
- Provide technical advice to millwrights (as appropriate).
- Work with engineers and inspectors for clarification on any new work order requests.
- Compile and continually update the four week work schedule for all planned corrective related repairs for maintenance and process.
- Take a proactive approach to contingency and strategic planning and seek input from other departments on shutdown planning.
- This function will also provide input to the plant budget complete with the data required and cost tracking for successful completion.
- This position requires interaction with all operating groups as well as the Maintenance Department.
- Must be able to estimate, budget, and interact with contractors and vendors while keeping projects within cost parameters.
- Be a source of support for both the Operation groups as well as the Maintenance Department. This position will be called upon to provide corrective action for repetitive problems, as well as areas of abnormally high cost.
- The incumbent will have the ability to utilize cross-functional support to assist with problem solving.
- Provide input to the Maintenance Manager for the annual maintenance budget.
- Act in a supervisory role at times within the plant.
- Responsible for being on call and supervise mechanical repairs off-shift, as are the other Maintenance Supervisors.
- To serve as a role model in the areas of leadership, teamwork, customer focus, continuous improvement, safety and environmental stewardship to ensure alignment with the company’s vision.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering).

5+ years of planning experience in an industrial environment; cement process knowledge preferred.

Strong mechanical background with emphasis on planning and troubleshooting.

Proficient in predictive and preventative maintenance, with thorough understanding of plant operations, equipment, and repair techniques.

Ability to identify parts, tools, manpower requirements, and estimate completion times for work orders.

Strong facilitation, problem-solving, and project management skills; able to manage projects from conception to completion.

Cost awareness with the ability to recommend areas for savings.

Proficient in CMMS systems; strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Project preferred.

Effective written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.

Team-oriented, able to work with both internal and external personnel to achieve organizational goals.

Strong organizational skills and ability to write clear, concise business cases.

Broad process knowledge and ability to maintain an overall view of plant operations.
