Nature and Scope

  • Own the Maintenance Work Process: Ensure work orders descriptions are clearly defined, prioritized, codified, efficiently planned, updating status and follow up on timely close out after execution.
  • Lead efforts to improve Maintenance PM Optimization and drive reliability through better job scoping, sequencing, and tool preparation.
  • Work with the Maintenance Manager on monthly cost forecasting and budgeting, expense preparation and tracking.
  • Collaborate to develop, implement, and provide oversite support for the maintenance and repairs of all assets within the Plant.
  • Ensure inventory for parts used in equipment repair and rebuild are purchased and available.
  • Expedite urgent requests for critical parts to keep production running.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with suppliers ensuring the sourcing of parts and fulfillment of orders.
  • Communicate the arrival of parts and order status with managers and suppliers.
  • Reconcile credit card purchases and purchase orders timely.
  • Follow up on quotes and lead times for orders.
  • Assist the Inspectors in implementing and administration of preventive maintenance program and work order system.
  • Coordinate PM compliance from inception to implementation.
  • Assist plant management and engineers in optimization programs for plant processing equipment.
  • Assist in the development of equipment inspection procedures to ensure that proper actions are being taken to maximize equipment uptime and to keep the equipment in good working condition.
  • Responsible for tracking and measuring the efficiency of PM and major maintenance efforts.
  • Collaboration with site management and procurement for optimized re-order points, critical spare parts availability, and ongoing maintenance of existing spare parts lists. PO issuance for stock components.
  • Review all existing master job procedures on a regular basis and ensure accuracy.
  • Other duties as required by the location management.
  • Ensure shutdown work is completed as planned and on time.
  • Verify proper parts are staged for scheduled work prior to execution.
  • Advise coordinator of jobs not completed and communicate to management on daily basis.
  • Work with Tabware or Oracle (CMMS system), Word, Excel and plant specific information systems.
  • Advises Coordinator/ Supervisors of annual budgeting needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field, or strong Millwright background or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a Mechanical related field.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in industrial maintenance work, including equipment failure, troubleshooting and repairs. or related heavy industry
  • Experienced in Supervising in a union environment is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial maintenance work, including equipment failure, troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office programs. Oracle, Tabware & MAXIMO experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organization and decision-making abilities.
  • Must have knowledge of safety regulations, environmental regulations, welding and repair.
  • Ability to work without supervision and be self-motivated.
  • Good mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and blueprints. Job role includes physical demands in either hot or cold working environments.
  • Role may require off-hours call-out, weekend or night shift on occasion basis.
