Maintenance Mechanic

Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on all production and lab equipment and ensure duties and responsibilities of department personnel are performed in a safe and timely manner. Support the efforts of all department personnel to ensure all equipment is maintained in the most cost-effective way without sacrificing quality of product.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and maintain all lab and production equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all lab and production equipment
  • Duties include: light hydraulics, pneumatics, metal fab, and welding, forklift repair, electrical troubleshooting and electrical repair.
  • Address part requisition needs for timely repairs and review upcoming projects to determine best use of manpower.
  • Oversee and monitor the scheduling or completion of work (logs), training, cross-training of all new and existing maintenance or janitorial employees.
  • Oversee and check the quality of work performed by maintenance and janitorial staff.
  • Ensure maintenance areas are kept clean throughout the shifts, and ready for shift transition.
  • Interface regularly with Office, Lab, Production, and Materials supervision to review specific needs with regard to repair needs, follow-up on repairs made, and janitorial issues.
  • Adhere to and enforces Employee and Safety policies and programs.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Mechanic
  • Must have a good electrical and mechanical maintenance background
  • Excellent verbal and legible written communication skills as they pertain to dealing with and understanding employee machine malfunction concerns or issues, dealing with employee issues, documenting job progress in logs and in training or re-training staff members.
  • Outstanding attendance, judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of OSHA, NFPA and other Safety Regulations, and in the frequent use of personal protective equipment.
