Maintenance Manager

Role Summary
We're looking for a dynamic and experienced leader to guide both the strategic and daily operations of a large, technically sophisticated manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Plant Director, this role oversees all engineering and maintenance functions to ensure optimal equipment performance, efficiency, and compliance—all while driving a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead a team of direct reports with full responsibility for hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance management

  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, safety, and engagement across the maintenance and engineering teams

  • Proactively manage employee relations and build team capability through ongoing development and mentoring

Safety & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure all maintenance personnel are thoroughly trained on safety procedures and regulations (OSHA, GMP, and internal health and safety policies)

  • Champion and enforce compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including lockout/tagout, hazardous communication, machine safeguarding, and environmental standards

  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards—empowered to halt production in the event of a quality or safety risk

Maintenance Strategy & Execution

  • Direct the installation, upkeep, and decommissioning of all plant equipment with a focus on cost-effectiveness and reliability

  • Oversee heating, ventilation, air conditioning, compressed air, and electrical systems to ensure uninterrupted facility operations

  • Set priorities and allocate maintenance resources to maximize uptime and support production goals

Technical & Operational Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance product quality, increase machine uptime, and reduce costs

  • Collaborate closely with the plant leadership team on technical solutions for both Blow Molding and Injection Molding operations

  • Develop and refine preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to extend asset life and minimize unplanned downtime

Project & Contractor Management

  • Solicit and evaluate contractor bids for new equipment installations, facility upgrades, or other projects

  • Recommend contractors based on value, quality, and timelines; oversee project execution to meet organizational standards

  • Maintain accurate layouts of plant infrastructure and facilities

Collaboration & Cross-functional Relationships

  • Act as a key liaison with internal teams, external customers, and commercial stakeholders to align maintenance efforts with broader operational goals

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a closely related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

  • At least 5 years in industrial maintenance leadership within a manufacturing setting

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong working knowledge of maintenance management practices and plant engineering

  • Proficient in interpreting reports, business correspondence, technical documents, and statistical data

  • Skilled in identifying problems, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions

  • Comfortable working under pressure in a deadline-driven environment

  • Effective verbal and written communicator with strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate teams across multiple shifts
