Manual Machinist – we need 1

  • Hourly Rate - $32.00
  • Per Diem - $85.00 per night
  • Direct Hire – after 90 days
  • Able to machine parts per print.
  • Ability to operate line bore and bore tec.
  • Able to operate various mills (horizontal and vertical), lathes, and drill presses
  • Welding and cutting experience a plus
  • Able to read and understand prints
  • Some smaller lathes up to some really big lathes that can spin about 24”. Some larger VTLs, G&L Mill, Bridgeport. Our big VTL has a 16 foot table and a smaller Bullard VTL with a 5 foot table. Everything is manual.
  • Full machine shop, vertical and horizontal (mills, lathes, presses), pump and gearbox rebuilds, agitator shafts and fabrication (28,000 sq. feet on four acres)
  • Vertical Mill (turns pieces up to 276” or 23 feet in diameter)
  • Timken Bearing “Platinum” bearing rebuild – certified
  • Lighnin Gearbox certified

Position: Machinist III:

Competency Level Grade 12

Reports to Supervisor

General Responsibilites:

The Machinist III will work directly under the supervision of a Supervisor in a shop or field environment.


  • Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify solutions to resolve a variety of component repair and preventative maintenance concerns.
  • Minimize rework by closely following work scopes and manufacturing operation procedures.
  • Use prescribed procedures to inspect part(s) and product(s) produced to assure compliance to specifications that will eliminate defects, scrap, rework, etc. Ensure part(s) meet all Customer Quality requirements.
  • Interpret work orders, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Secure and fabricate necessary tools and materials following verbal or written instructions, samples or prints.
  • Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Utilize measuring equipment used in the industry such as calipers, micrometers, height gauge and other measuring equipment needed to complete work.
  • Maintain a billable rate according to department and company objectives.
  • Responsibility to prevent damages due to mistakes or carelessness to equipment or materials.
  • Prevent loss which may result from negligent inspection or testing; from spoilage or wastage of raw or in process materials.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Any other duties as appropriate and required.
  • This position requires working well under pressure; meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines and at all times demonstrates cooperative behavior with coworkers
  • and Leadmen.
  • Plan and lay out work, utilizing basic knowledge of trigonometry and geometry.
  • Knowledge of CNC equipment capability and daily maintenance (Shop Service).
  • Experience with manual and CNC machining equipment (Shop Service).
  • Set up manual and CNC equipment (Shop Service).
  • Machining of parts on manual and CNC Machines to provide specifications or prints (Shop Service).
  • Operating overhead crane and rigging
  • Operate cranes on service truck (Field Service).
  • Fall protection may be required for some tasks.
  • Ability to utilize interpersonal and communication techniques, working in a team environment, and dealing with a wide variety or personalities and communication styles.
  • Maintain proper tooling to perform essential job duties.
  • Ability to draw prints of existing components.
  • Layout material for manufacturing and repair operations.

  • Proficient at Print Reading
  • Knowledge of OEM drawings.
  • Welding experience, fabrication and build up work.
  • Read and understand prints (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)).
  • Ability to operate cutting torch with oxy-acetylene and/or oxy-propylene.
  • Operate both vertical mills and horizontal mill and VTL (Shop Service).
  • Computer skills (CNC Machinist) (Shop Service).
  • Perform threading of all types (Shop Service).
  • Operate lathes and drill presses (Shop Service).
  • Ability to read and edit program with G&M codes (Shop Service).
  • Perform threading of all types (Shop Service).
  • Flexible work schedule and flexibility with travel based on the overall needs of the company. (Field Service).
  • Welding repairs to heavy structural components per OEM procedures – working independently (Field Service).
  • Set up line boring (Field Service).
  • Be familiar with other machine shop equipment (Shop Service).

EHS Requirements:

  • Current MSHA, valid driver license and able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screen and physical job requirements. Participate in pre-employment background screening.

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years’ experience with CNC machining, line boring or equivalent education/experience required.
  • Understanding of component structural integrity and metallurgy.
  • Use of advanced trade’s mathematics, together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas, all varieties of precision measuring instruments.

Skills in performing mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fraction and decimals).
