Machining Process Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial manufacturing feasibility of new product designs and provide equipment and tooling recommendations
  • Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) guidance and recommendations to support product design teams
  • Set-up, execute, and summarize CNC machining simulation activities
  • Present and defend technical reviews of product designs to internal and external customers
  • Support cross-functional multi-regional teams in casting development, launch, and production improvement
  • Some travel (10-15 %) will be required to support manufacturing sites and attend industry events
  • International travel may be required for training in the first year of employment, dependent upon experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 3+ years of experience as machining process engineer
  • Experience with high volume production machining of light alloys preferred
  • Experience planning and developing machining processes for metallic castings is preferred
  • Trained user of CAM and machining simulation software
  • Strong understanding of numerically controlled (CNC) multi-axis milling (3+1 and 3+2 axis) operations
  • Ability to operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (capable to review, translate, and create)
  • Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) methods and related topics
  • Proficiency in German or Spanish is a plus
